RIYAH RECRUITMENT

A website design project to help a small business find their identity, and reach a broader public.

THE PROBLEM

Riyah Recruitment is a growing company with aspirations of expanding its client base in 2023.
Despite its ambitious goals, it currently lacks a website to display its job offerings and connect with prospective clients.

Founder Jariah established the company in early 2022 and realized that not having an online presence was limiting her future work opportunities. Her goal was to create a sleek, modern website that conveyed a professional yet approachable image to her clients.

Responsive website

DISCOVERY

Prior to embarking on this project, I had no prior experience working with a rec2rec business.

To gain a better understanding of my client and the product I was set to work on, I conducted extensive research.

In order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the work at hand, I arranged a meeting with the business owner, Jariah. The goal of this meeting was to gather as much information about her business and work, and to gain a clear understanding of her expectations and ideas regarding the final product.

During the meeting, I sought answers to the following questions:

Final Product:
The final product is a desktop website, designed to be responsive for mobile devices to ensure accessibility.

Target Users:
The website will cater to both job seekers and employers.

Features:
The website should feature a description of services provided, a review section, and an easy way to get in touch with Jariah.

THE PROBLEM

The absence of a website can negatively affect a business in multiple ways, such as limiting the ability to advertise job opportunities and promotions, as well as making it difficult to reach potential clients.

THE GOAL

The website will serve as a platform to showcase the diverse range of services offered by Jariah, allowing clients to easily connect with her and build a lasting, trustworthy relationship. Additionally, it will also highlight Jariah's professional background and profile, providing clients with an understanding of who she is and what she brings to the table. The website will be designed to be user-friendly, visually appealing, and easy to navigate, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.

CONCEPT SKETCHING & SITE MAP

While being receptive to new and innovative ideas, the business owner had a clear vision for the features and overall appearance of her website.

During the initial meeting, I used hand sketches to capture and comprehend the idea the business owner had in mind. These sketches were then used to develop a site map, which served as a roadmap for the project moving forward.

RESEARCH

Given the niche nature of the field, I was only able to interview three individuals. Despite the limited sample size, their insights were invaluable and provided a valuable understanding of what they would expect from a recruitment agency website:

CLARITY

The users expressed a desire for a user-friendly platform that is easy to understand, with clear and concise information presented in an organized manner.

HASSLE FREE

Potential users emphasized the importance of having an effortless and immediate means of contacting recruiters without having to navigate through complicated processes or spend excessive time trying to find the right contact information.

MODERN

According to the users, they are more likely to reach out to a business if its website has a modern and inviting appearance, creating a positive first impression.

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS

I studied the user flows, interface design, and overall user experience of the competitor websites to uncover areas of improvement that I could apply to the product I was designing. Through this analysis, I was able to gain insight into the current trends in the industry, enabling me to create an up-to-date user experience for my product.

I also paid close attention to how competitors were positioning their products and what features they were promoting. This allowed me to develop a more effective way to market my product and engage customers.

By looking at the navigation structure, content, visuals, and overall layout of the competitors' sites I was able to gain insights into what users may be expecting, or what could be improved upon.

This allowed me to compare and contrast my product's user experience to those of the competitors, and create a design that would stand out from the crowd, which ultimately resulted in a better-designed product that stands out from the competition.

PERSONAS

Based on the research I created two personas to represent the users that would be the final customers for my product.

In this case, we are looking at job seekers - teachers or teaching assistants interested in starting to work in the rec2rec field - or employers such as other recruitment agencies.

LOW & MID-FIDELITY WIREFRAMES

By synthesizing the insights and observations gained through my research and interviews, I was able to create a preliminary set of low to mid-fidelity wireframes. These wireframes were iteratively refined until I arrived at a desirable outcome.

Thanks to the use of personas and research I was able to pinpoint some of the pain points and frustrations, and try to target these issues and possibly solve them and/or reduce them with my work.

For example, to make it easier for career changer to understand how to start the process I created a page that would provide an explanation of the steps needed, with a clear CTA to encourage them to get in touch with the business.

HIGH FIDELITY & WORDPRESS

The mid-fidelity wireframes were transformed into high-fidelity prototypes on WordPress, with the only remaining tasks being the addition of final copy and images, which the business owner wanted to contribute and select personally.

I continually refined the final product and held regular meetings with the business owner to guarantee that the end result aligned with her vision.

Recent studies show that over 50% of web traffic originates from mobile devices, rather than desktop devices. This highlights the significance of making sure the business owner's website was optimized for mobile view.

To ensure that the mobile experience was just as seamless as the desktop experience, I created a basic layout that served as a reference while working on the final product.

NEXT STEPS

Analyse the user response to the design we created.

With the website now live, our focus has shifted towards analyzing user data to continually iterate and improve the user experience. This will help ensure that the website continues to meet the needs and expectations of both job seekers and employers. Regularly evaluating and updating the website will be essential in maintaining its relevance and effectiveness in the future.

LESSONS LEARNED

Working on this project was a unique and fulfilling experience. It presented a challenge in terms of learning about a new industry, the Rec2Rec field, but it was a great opportunity for personal growth and to better serve my client.

Assisting in the creation of the brand identity was a fun and challenging task that allowed me to improve my skills in certain software and enhance my design abilities.

Maintaining clear and effective communication with the business owner, Jariah, was key to the success of this project. It was important to understand her vision and ensure the website had the features she desired while also being user-friendly. Overall, it was a rewarding experience to bring Jariah's ideas to life and create a website that truly represents her business.
